Water, part one

I remember thinking, a few years ago, that I really needed to scan in my old family photos. I knew that we had bad weather in Florida and my dad’s tiny apartment was no match for a flood from a tropical storm or hurricane. Over the years I have stowed away a few items that I want to make sure nothing happens to, like my dad’s high school jacket with his football number on it, and my mom’s old jewelry and charms from when she was pregnant with me. I think that one of the reasons why I have taken so much care to save these items is because I have a small family and when everyone is old, I know that I will be the one to make sure that the memories are saved and taken care of. It’s late and I think its because of the coffee…

Coffee ice cream that is. Yes, I am ridiculously sensitive to caffeine and I think the small amount of coffe ice cream, which i covet, is making it little easier stare at the computer screen right now.

In thinking about the new year:

One of the things that I really want to do in the upcoming year, and all of the years to follow, is to get better at making record of my life. I’d like to work out a system where I take a photo of myself once a month, and make an effort to really write a meaningful blog entry about that month. I think that would be enough. Maybe I could start from there and see how far I get. I’m so bad at keeping up with things, I managed to even kill a cactus.  A cactus. Though it was very interesting because the cactus literally disintegrated into a pool of goo. One day it was there, next day: goo. Totally cool, but I digress. Yes, I believe my new year’s resolution is to make better record of my life - and to stop worrying. Thats another big one.

What’s yours?

Japanese Spider Crabs can grow to the size of a car and live up to 100 years! WOW! Snapped this photo at the Georgia aquarium a few months ago.

VHS, Compact Discs and Pagers

I was cleaning out my apartment last night, mainly getting rid of my VHS tapes and CD Jewel cases, when I had a little moment. As I opened and closed about 200 cases, each time removing the CD and sometimes the little booklet (if it had nice artwork or sentimental significance), I stumbled on a CD from freshman year of highschool. Slipped between the plastic cover and the booklet were two pictures of the bandmembers, neatly “laminated” with clear packing tape ensuring nothing would happen to my precious heartthrobs. Hilarious! And to make matters more cheesy and a sign of the times: I remembered that these little laminates had been taped to my pager. MY P.A.G.E.R. Because I was that girl. Boy crazy, and swooning to the lead singers of rock bands. Not much has changed, except now I have a cellphone with a camera, thank god.

Curious humans, curious animals

While in San Francisco I saw a woman walking her dog and noticed that the dog was wearing wearing little lace up shoes. How hysterical! Humans are so curious.
